Introducing the Marcus Special Edition Rose by Château Sainte Roseline
Marcus Wareing is delighted to announce the launch of the Marcus Special Edition Rosé by Château Sainte Roseline, Côtes de Provence Cru Classé; a new rosé wine in partnership with Provence-based winery, Château Sainte Roseline.
An avid drinker of rosé, Marcus believes that it is something to be enjoyed all year round. “It’s a huge honour to partner with Château Sainte Roseline on this stunning wine. They create beautiful, intense wines with sustainability at the heart of everything they do. Provence is the home of rosé, and this wine certainly won’t disappoint.”
With under 10,000 bottles produced, this premium wine is the leading example of outstanding French rose. To the eye, the wine is translucent pink with a hint of salmon. It’s intense on the nose, offering a moreish bouquet of exotic fruit (grapefruit and lychee) and is a beautifully balanced drop, long in the mouth with an astonishingly fresh, mineral taste. It has an excellent body and delightful citrus notes.
Marcus and the team visited the Château Sainte Roseline vineyard in Les Arcs, Provence, meeting the winery team and learning about the beautiful & unique Cru Classé estate, their wines and the winemaking process itself. The owner of Château Sainte Roseline, Aurélie Bertin and Marcus spent quality time together, sharing their mutual passion for nature, sustainability, food and wine.
“This cuvée, predominantly produced with mourvèdre and aged in oak, will perfectly match with Marcus’ gastronomic cuisine,” says Aurélie.
The Marcus Special Edition Rosé by Château Sainte Roseline consists of 85% mourvèdre and 15% grenache, all estate-grown using organic methods. The mourvèdre is picked from a 60-year-old plot - one of the estate’s oldest - while the grenache is sourced from a 30-year-old plot.
The wine is grown using traditional, environmentally friendly techniques such as tilling, chemical-free weeding and grass planting between vine rows to preserve flora and fauna, ensuring that the soil remains healthy. Crop thinning is used to achieve a concentrated yield and Cru Classé quality. Leaves are then partly removed to ensure each bunch receives optimal sunshine. The grapes are harvested at night, from late August to late September, to avoid oxidation and colouring, resulting in a beautiful pale rose that Provence has become known for.
Aurelie’s father, Bernard Teillaud, bought the winery in 1994 and it remains under Aurelie’s watchful eye today, making it the only family-run estate in Provence. One of 18 prestigious Provence Cru Classé estates, comprising 110 hectares of prime-estate vineyards dedicated to responsible and sustainable practices, Chateau Sainte Roseline also happens to be home to a historic monument, with an 11th century chapel and 12th century cloister on the property.
Marcus Special Edition Rosé by Château Sainte Roseline will be exclusively available for purchase from Marcus Belgravia, in London’s Knightsbridge from Friday, 27th April 2023, in both standard and magnum sizes.
For the month of May, we're offering all weekday lunch bookings a complimentary glass of Marcus Special Edition rosé - simply make a booking below to be one of the first in the country to sample this beautiful drop.
